PPT Slide
- not an in-depth course in Oracle or SQL (not in 30 mins!)
- nothing really specific to Oracle 8 - just the latest version of Oracle we are using
- will leave objects and FLOBs as exercise for the keen reader
- just an idea of how to plunge in and get started and use a database very simply
- simple things are not hard! - there’s lots of complex and sophisticated things you can do with Oracle - but you probably don’t ever need to know them. One or two experts will tune the table sizes, indexes, layout of the data on disk, access patterns, etc. - using extensive toolset provided by Oracle for managing and performance monitoring
