To use SAM, the user needs to do some basic UPS setups first:
$ setup n32 #IRIX only
$ setup sam
$ setenv SAM_STATION <station_name>
On d0mino, the <station_name>s is central-analysis.
These will be setup in a more formal way when the concept
of station is further developed in future SAM releases.
sam locate file foo
This command will locate the file foo in the sam system. The normal response, when everything is working properly, should be:
The File Servant is alive.
No such file: foo
To verify that the FSS, used only for step 4 - storing data files, is running and operational, the user can type:
$sam dump fss
A typical response will be:
File Storage Server Dump:
Stagers are known at nodes: d02ka.fnal.gov
34 requests submitted, 31 done, 1 failed, 0 resubmitted
File Store requests:
... then a long list of transferred files ...

a problem which needs to be fixed. Send mail to
